19,21 inc. VAT

GRAPES: Merweh (50%) and Obeldi (50%).

Merweh and Obeidi, two indigenous grape varietals that likely trace their lineage back to the Phoenicians. By blending them, Domaine des Tourelles has created a generous and mineral white wine that offers a sensorial voyage to Lebanon.
Theses grapes’ centuries-old vineyards range from the fertile Bekaa plateau to the Bsharreh mountains above the Qadisha (Holy Valley) at the feet of the millennial cedars.

Serving: Viellies Vignes Merweh & Obeidi is best served chilled at a temperature between 10-12°C (50-54°F).

Pairing: Its mineral and savory notes make it a great match for seafood, such as grilled shrimp or scallops, as well as light salads and vegetable dishes. It also pairs well with grilled chicken and pork, and can stand up to bold flavors like Moroccan or Lebanese spiced dishes. Additionally, the wine’s dried fig and almond notes on the finish make it a great match for nutty and fruity desserts, such as a cheese plate with dried fruits and nuts.

Tasting note: It has a complex nose with natural aromas of ripened grapes, apple skin, and a mix of spices and herbs. On the palate, it is mineral and savory, with a medium body and good acidity. The wine shows flavors of ripe pear, apricot, and peach, along with notes of dried figs and fresh almonds on the finish.

Description

Viellies Vignes Merweh & Obeidi is a white wine blend of indigenous Lebanese grape varietals grown in high altitude vineyards. The Merweh grapes are grown in the Besharreh mountain range at 1,400m altitude, while the Obeidi grapes are grown in the Western Bekaa Valley at 1,100m altitude.

The vines are over 100 years old for Merweh and over 50 years old for Obeidi. The yield per hectare is low, with 15 hl/ha for Merweh and 35 hl/ha for Obeidi.

The wine is produced organically without irrigation, and the harvest is 100% manual with intensive selection in the vineyards.
The grapes are fermented separately using wild yeast, then blended and stored in stainless steel tanks.

The wine has a brilliant golden color with natural aromas of ripened grapes, apple skin, and a mix of spices and herbs on the nose. The palate is mineral and savory, with notes of dried figs and fresh almonds on the finish. The alcohol strength is 11% vol. This wine offers a unique sensorial experience that takes you on a journey through the terroir of Lebanon.
