Description
The Quintessence of Musar
Produced by the world-renowned Chateau Musar, this “Arack de Musar” is a testament to the Hochar family’s dedication to time and tradition. The journey begins with high-quality grape alcohol that has been matured for an average of five years, providing a rich, complex foundation that sets it apart from standard spirits.
The Art of Quadruple Distillation
While tradition often calls for three distillations, this expression goes further:
Four Distillations: The spirit is distilled four times in traditional copper stills. During the final fourth distillation, premium aniseed is introduced, capturing only the most delicate and refined essential oils. This extra step ensures a spirit of crystalline purity and a silky mouthfeel.
Amphora Aging: Following distillation, the arak is aged for one full year in traditional terracotta amphorae. The clay allows for micro-oxygenation, which mellows the 53% alcohol and imparts a distinct, natural liquorice aroma.
Tasting Profile: The result is surprisingly sweet and “easy” on the palate. It is a dry yet concentrated spirit, balancing intense anise flavors with a sophisticated, lingering finish.
Serving Excellence
Because of its five-year base and quadruple distillation, L’Arack de Musar possesses a rare smoothness that allows it to be enjoyed neat as a luxury digestif. For those preferring the traditional method, mix 1 part arak with 2 parts fresh water; the resulting louche is exceptionally creamy and aromatic, making it the perfect partner for a refined Lebanese meal.
