Born in the sun-drenched vineyards of the West Bekaa Valley, Arak Chateau Kefraya is the result of a rigorous selection of estate-grown grapes. Unlike mass-produced spirits, this arak benefits from the same “savoir-faire” that has made Chateau Kefraya a global name in winemaking, ensuring a base spirit of unparalleled quality.
Mastery of Distillation and Aging
The production process is a meticulous blend of science and tradition:
Quadruple Distillation: To achieve its signature clarity, the spirit undergoes four distillations in traditional copper alembics. This extra stage removes all harsh alcohols, leaving only the “heart”—the purest and most aromatic essence of the spirit.
Finest Aniseed: During the final distillations, premium green aniseeds are added, infusing the spirit with a natural sweetness and a complex, herbal bouquet.
Clay Jar Maturation: Following distillation, the arak is aged in traditional clay jars for several months. This ancient maturation process allows the spirit to breathe and mellow, resulting in a remarkably smooth and rounded texture.
The Traditional Serving
With its 53% ABV, Arak Château Kefraya is perfectly balanced for the Lebanese table. When mixed with water, it produces a brilliant, snowy-white louche. For the most authentic experience, mix 1 part arak with 2 parts fresh water and finish with ice. Its crisp, refreshing palate makes it the ideal companion for a diverse Lebanese Mezze, cutting through rich flavors with ease.
